Develop a planning process to move the work of the Arts and Culture Committee forward.

Steps Taken: A meeting was held in Phoenix engaging members of the Arizona Arts Industry in a conversation about the roles the AMC Arts and Culture Committee can play in enhancing the positive development of the sector in both Arizona and Sonora. An additional planning meeting took place in June in Tucson, Arizona that engaged local artists and arts administrators as well as our partners from the Instituto Sonorense de Cultura.

Accomplishments

Collaboration Through ArtsWhere: Arizona-Sonora
What: Collaboration through Arts Promotes Community Health
Pillars: Advocacy
The AMC is tackling community health initiatives through its Arts & Culture committee. In partnership with the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the committee has developed a brief residency program to address the subject of obesity and promote healthy living through dance. This program is an example of AMC committee work crossing over. Arts expression through dance promotes preservation of culture while it also promotes health in the community.
