Arizona has a strong history of fostering productive and friendly relationships with our neighbors in Mexico. And every day, we experience firsthand the positive impact that international collaboration has on our state. I am privileged to carry on the tradition of serving as Chair of an organization with a 59-year legacy of leaders who have guided and strengthened the bilateral relationship with our largest trading partner.
The 21st century economy is a global economy. And I am proud that, in many ways, Arizona is at its forefront. As we implement new and innovative ways to lead both domestically and internationally – our strong ties to Mexico help drive our state’s competitiveness. Arizona’s relationship with Mexico is also about our shared priority of improving the quality of life for everyone. And I am proud to work closely with my colleague and friend, Sonora Governor Claudia Pavlovich Arellano, toward this goal. Governor Pavlovich and I have set an ambitious agenda for the Arizona-Mexico Commission and the Comisión Sonora-Arizona to achieve mutual prosperity of our states. This includes the important work of our binational committees which are the foundation of the Arizona-Mexico Commission.
It’s our members and supporters that continue to build on the Arizona-Mexico Commission’s proven legacy – and there’s always more work to do. I hope you’ll join in this important endeavor by learning more and getting involved with us.
